Windows 7 Launched On The Web – Microsoft Surprises All

So no sooner doI talk aboutthe fact that the world has been talking about Windows a lot, thandoesn’t this hit my RSS feed radar while having some lunch…Windows 7teasing a web of it’s own, freshly launched!

Microsoft Wants To Do Your Windows – Windows 7 Dedicated Web Site Launched!

TalkingAboutWindows.Comhas just been launched – check it out! Lots of talking heads, andbetween all the hype, lots of promise of support, guidance, bestpractice, and more of an “Apple like” culture of “We’ll Help YouSucceed With Windows Because We’re In This Together” and not so much of“If Windows succeeds By Default You Will Be Successful, BecauseMicrosoft Is Good Incarnate.”

The site features Windows Engineers and Industry Insiders, talkingabout “behind-the-scene” details about  Windows 7, and is clearly aimedat the “IT Professional” segment.  What’s exciting about this to me, isthat Microsoft for the first time, seems like they are serious aboutreally opening up the Windows platform in a way that all us MicroSerfshave been craving for since I can remember.  There are some videosalready “scattered” in the site, with a page design that is not as’structued’ as is typical with Microsoft – almost a bit “random” andmore “just in time” than the typical Microsoft signature.  Almost, dareI say it,  ”start-up’ish”?

Microsoft provides more details in this release, but also seems tobe embracing Social Networking (duh, who isn’t), to allow ITProfessionals to share their success stories as well.  Not sure howmuch “moderation” this will come with, but I just posted a“self-indulgent” link back to “this post” (I know, I know…there are names for that) via a comment…and was (honestly) shocked when I saw it sitting on the front page!

Unmoderated Comments Allowed On Microsoft Prime Real Estate? Crazy Talk.

Maybe there is hope yet for Microsoft and the Windows franchise!!

{Oh, and as a blogging idol inside joke, I just have to say: What a cheap way to leverage Internet Marketing and Social Networking ways to hopefully generate amazing ROI for Microsoft.}
