Battery life is the one issue that continues to be an issue,but it seems like companies rarely like to address it directly. Well, untilnow.
Qualcomm has thrown down the gauntlet with its One ChargeChallenge, a special promotion tied to its Snapdragon line of processors. Theconcept: Qualcomm charged up a phone, and then sent it around the world,filming video in eight different countries, all without having to recharge.
Okay, true, even though the entire round trip lasted 20whole days, the phone was powereddown between uses, and it’s not really 100 per cent clear just how much use ithad during each of its power-up cycles, other than “several takes” of video.That’s not an unreasonable accomplishment, really.
So in the end, this is probably a bit less impressive thanit seems when you hear all of the stops the phone made…especially when youcompare it to how long your own Android phone seems to last when you fire upAngry Birds Space for a few quick levels. Still, it’s great that a company ispaying a bit more overt attention to battery life issues, especially with allthe things that are bound to drain the battery faster, like bigger screens and4G, and addictive games.
