We built this Technicity

When I first dreamed of living in Toronto as a kid I never really thought much about the wealth of technology expertise and innovation that's a part of this city. Now I realize how important it is to continue its development.

I'm excited and honoured to be hosting a special event later this month that IT World Canada is producing in partnership with the City of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance. Technicity will take place on Nov. 30 and feature some amazing speakers, including David Crow, talking about how to strengthen our local ICT cluster. More from the official backgrounder:

The City of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Region are a Technology powerhouse with unlimited potential to take advantage of the increasingly important role technology is playing in almost every aspect of our lives, from digital media, gaming and entertainment to health care and intelligent communities. Technicity.ca will bring together technology leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and executives of the region’s economic development agencies for a half day of panel discussions, displays and an evening to remember, to celebrate, to brainstorm, network and create economic opportunity.

Technicity.ca will also serve as an opportunity to determine how to leverage our talent pool, infrastructure, and geographic location to intensify the base of our already powerful Technology cluster.  It will kick off an industry-government partnership to realize the full wealth-creating potential of the region’s Technology cluster.

See how Toronto’s citizens and businesses are getting ready for the powerful new tide of future technology innovations. Help us take our city’s Technology cluster to the next generation. Join your colleagues and friends at Technicity.ca – an opportunity for those who are ahead-of-the-curve.

We'll be fleshing out the Web site and announcing more details about the agenda in the next little while, but if you've heard enough to be interested in showing up you can RSVP @ Technicity.ca.
