CounterPath Corp. of Vancouver announced this week it reduced its staff by 39 per cent and lost $3.9 million for the quarter ending Oct. 31.
The voice over IP software vendor, which lost $9.3 in the six months ending Oct. 31, makes
Enterprise Mobility Gateway, which lets companies give telephony services (including voicemail, corporate directory, instant messaging and conferencing) over dual-mode phones using Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
The company attributed part of its expenses to acquistions of NewHeights, FirstHand and BridgePort. The integration of the companies resulted in the job cuts, which the company anticipates will save it $5 million a year.
CounterPath bought soft phone developer NewHeights in 2007.
In its quarterly earnings announcement, CounterPath said its revenues were $3 million, up 23 per cent from the same period in 2007.
Last summer it announced an upgrade to Quick Conference, which now works with the Bria softphone and supports the Fedora and Novell Suse versions of Linux.
