When I read a recent interview on our U.S. counterpart’s site about IT departments poaching one another’s employees, however, I was reminded of what I learned when I was the one doing the poaching.
It was before ITWorld bought ITBusiness, and we were still acting as competitors. I needed a talented IT writer. ITWorld had one I liked. I called, I interviewed, I hired. She lasted about three months, and explained when she resigned that she had been approached by five other firms since she started working with me. Just goes to show you that once you put an employee in play, they may never stop playing the field.
