Icron Technologies releases USB 2.0 module

Icron Technologies Corp. has announced the newest version of its ExtremeUSB module.

The Burnaby, BC-based company said its ExtremeUSB 2.0 Core 2100Module daughter boards will enable customers to locate USB 2.0 devices,including keyboards, mice, web cameras, DVD players, printers, scannersand MP3 players, remotely from a PC host. The product is geared towardUSB 2.0 connectivity for industrial automation/control, KVM extensionand enterprise remote desktops, digital signage, and home networkintegration.

“The Core 2100 Modules represent a major milestone in the evolutionof Icron’s ExtremeUSB solutions. From simple Cat5 and Fibre opticextension solutions to highly customized embedded applications, theCore 2100 modules are flexible enough to meet the individual needs ofour customers,” Bill De Vries, product marketing manager at IcronTechnologies, said in a release. “Along with adding features andperformance, we have reduced board area requirements by over 66 percent and reduced the total solution BOM by half as compared to ourprevious generation modules.”

The Core 2100 Modules support all major operating systems including Windows Vista, Windows XP, MAC O/S and Linux.
