How to find a job (now, and in this market)

Ok, that may have been a bit of a misleading headline. Actually, it's a supremely misleading headline because, like everyone else, I know the reality of the job market of the last couple of years. It's not pretty and it's not easy and it requires more patience than a 10,000 piece puzzle (not that I've ever completed one).
But, that said, we do have a few recent resources to make your re-entry into the working world (or upgrade, if that's your gambit) a bit easier.

First off, I'd like to direct your attention to ITBusiness.ca's Christine Wong's Express IT video on the Death of the Traditional Resume.

She'll get you started on which tricks are valid and which ones might bite you in the tuckus before you jump the gun and apply for your next dream job with a hilariously embarrassing video (or poem).

You should also check out Meredith Levinson's article for CIO Magazine, How to conduct a job hunt: What you need to know today.

She goes into a little more depth on the statistics for job searching in the states and where to start looking for your next job. Some of her tips are useful (new candidates are more and more often found using LinkedIn) and not so useful (a lot more are being recruited by referral, meaning if you don't know the right people, you won't get your foot in the door).

Hopefully, this gets you started off on the right foot. Good luck!
