The contract is valued at $2.7 million for the first year, with renewal options for an additional two years.
International Datacasting, which distributes broadband content through Internet Protocol over satellite, is the provider for the Canadian Forces Radio and Television (CFRT) network, The company negotiates rights, records and uplinks the network from its operations centre in Ottawa.
It already had a contract and said it obtained the new contract through competitive bidding. The CFRT serves members of Canada’s military on ships and in Afghanistan, where troops can watch entertainment, news and sports programs.
