Ex-Nortel exec is new CIO at Polycom

Communications equipment maker Polycom Inc. has named former Nortel Networks director of strategy architecture Ari Bose as its new senior vice-president and CIO.
 
Bose and his team will serve as a resource for customers on best practices for adopting unified communications, the company said, and to Polycom’s product development team.
 
“Ari joins Polycom at what we believe is an inflection point for our company and our industry,” Polycom executive vice-president and chief financial officer Michael Kourey said in a news release. “Ari’s leadership, technical competence, and proven track record in business transformation and efficiency make him the ideal CIO for Polycom at this exciting stage for our company.”
Bose joins Polycom from UTStarcom, which makes IP-based networking and telecommunications solutions, where he served as senior vice-president, CIO and business transformation officer. Before that he was vice-president and CIO at 3Com Corp. (since last  year part of Hewlett-Packard). At 3Com, the news release said, Bose led several acquisition integrations, as well as the IT integration process through a joint venture with Huawei Technologies. In addition, Bose has held senior management roles at Apple Inc., Nortel, and Quantum Corp.
Bose has a master's degree in software engineering from the National University in San Diego and a bachelor's degree from Delhi University
