Dell, NEI offer platforms for telecom providers

Telecommunications providers have a new source for servers and storage thanks to a partnership between Dell Inc. and Network Engines Inc. Using Dell PowerEdge servers, NEI has put together three offerings to meet the high availability and performance needs of the telecom market. The units will be sold by both companies. Dell provided the hardware while NEI did the design, integration, manufacturing and regulatory testing.

The NEI versions are –the DC-powered E-2710, based on Dell's R710 platform and powered by dual or quad-core Intel Xeon 5500 CPUs with up to 144 Gb of memory. It's base price is US$2,380– the N-2710, an NEBS Level 3 certified version of the server which uses one or two dual core Xeon 5600 six-core processors. It's base price is US$3,385. — the S-2510, based on Dell's R-510 2U storage platform, with storage up to 24 TB in 12 hard drives. It's base price is US$1,925.

NEI's Element Manager 3.0 is certified on all three and used to activate health monitoring, remote updates and backup/restore capabilities. They also fully support Dell's Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) for remote systems management.
