As companies convert images, video and audio content into electronic format, a market research firm predicts an increased demand for digital asset management (DAM) products.
Oyster Bay, N.Y.-based ABI Research is forecasting revenues for software that can capture, organize, store and distribute digital content will reach US$1 billion in 2013.
The company released a report titled Digital Asset Management this week.
According to the report, DAM software can work with third party applications, including enterprise resources planning and enterprise content management. Until recently, ABI says, many products were isolated.
ABI says digital asset management helps improve efficiency, and will become more useful as the cost of storage and bandwidth drops, because it will become easier to move digital files with ease.
But the cost can be high, ranging from US$100,000 to $150,000.
