Channel Elite Awards still going green

Last year, CDN created a Channel Elite Awards category forgreen or environmentally friendly solutions. We didn’t present an awardbecause there were insufficient submissions.

Since then, the state of green IT solutions has gone on a meteoric rise. I would be surprised if CDN does not award the Best Green Solution this year.

To get all the details on the Best Green Solution, along with every other category, please visit www.computerdealernews.com and look for the CEA tab.

The difference between last year and today is that companies aremore conscious about providing an environmentally friendly environmentto work in. People, if they have a choice, would decide to work at acompany that is interested in reducing the carbon footprint.

I encourage you to go to CDN’s CEA page and nominate as many greenIT solutions as you have, because I think the recognition of winningthe first ever Channel Elite Award for Best Green Solution will giveyou a tremendous boost in marketing and position you as a leader inthis area.

The first green IT case study I ever wrote was on Upper Canada College’s(UCC) printing solution. The school, based in Toronto, decided to spendmore money for a green printing solution because the student body andthe teaching staff demanded it.

I think UCC is not alone today. They may have been a trend setter, but large, high- profile companies are image conscious and they want tobe green. So there is demand out there in the market place. Couple thatwith vendors developing environmentally friendly products and you havea situation where green is going to be red hot for years.

CDN will once again publish a list of the best green IT solution providers later on this year.
