Blue Coat doubles income in Q2

Blue Coat Systems Inc. reported total net revenue for the second quarter of its second quarter (which ended Oct. 31) was US$120.4 million, an increase of one per cent compared with net revenue for the same period a year ago and an increase of four per cent in the first quarter.

On a GAAP basis, the Sunnyvale, Calif., company reported net income of US$8.4 million in the second quarter compared with net loss of US$0.3 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2009, and net income of US$4.0 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2010.

On a non-GAAP basis, it had net income of $13.1 million in the second quarter compared with $10.1 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2010.

Earlier this month Blue Coat added three more appliances to its lineup: The ProxySG 9000 series of three units are five times faster than other models, the company said. They also support a full Gigabit per second of throughput when deployed in high availability configurations. The ProxyAV 1400 and 2400 units are aimed at high performance inline malware scanning.
