Research In Motion chalked up another record quarter, shipping 14.2 million of its wireless handsets in the period ending Nov. 27. That's up 19 per cent from the previous quarter and 40 per cent over the same quarter a year ago. The company's revenue was also up by 40 per cent, to hit $5.5 billion, with net income totaling $911.1 million. About 82 per cent of the Waterloo, Ont. company's revenue comes from handsets.
“We are pleased to report another record quarter with strong growth in shipments of BlackBerry smartphones leading to record revenue, subscriber additions and earnings,” co-CEO Jim Balsille said in a statement. “With strong results and momentum from our recent product introductions, as well as growing excitement from our partners and customers around upcoming smartphone, tablet, software and service offerings, we are setting the stage for continuing success.”
