CDN has learned from three industry sources that Charles Salameh, the vice president of HP Canada's Personal Systems Group (PSG) has been promoted to a position at HP's corporate headquarters in the U.S. CDN will update this story as soon as we know Salameh's new position.
The departure of Salameh leaves a big void at PSG. Let's not forget that Linda Fitzgerald left HP Canada's PSG just a few weeks ago to become president of NCR Canada. Salameh held the position for about 18 months and did a remarkable job during a tough transitional year for PSG. CDN named Salameh the No. 3 top newsmakers for 2010.
Also according to one source Peter Galanis, the president of HP Canada, will be looking for an outsider to fill the PSG chief role. Not sure why since channel chief John Cammallari, enterprise chief Dave Frederickson, Leyland Brown, and Anita Grassl would be excellent choices to be the new PSG boss.
While Salameh's departure is a well-earned promotion, the perception in the channel is that HP Canada, right now, is lacking in leadership.
People in the channel told me that Salameh was the straw that stirred the drink at HP Canada. On a personal level, I'm sad to see him go because Salameh worked very hard and was passionate about Canada's leadership in technology. It was something that he wanted to drive as PSG boss.
