Android: Flexibility is a virtue

The one nice thing about Android is that it really helps toincrease your flexibility. You have to be flexible about when you’re going toget the Ice Cream Sandwich update for your handset…it could be now, or it couldbe three months from now. Who knows? That’s the fun of it!

Or, if you’ve finally decided you’d rather stop waitingaround and just get another handset, well, you might have to wait around forthat too, because those dates keep on slipping, slipping, slipping, into thefuture. (Apologies to Steve Miller there.)

For one example, if you’re one of the many people who havebeen perched on the edge of your seat in anticipation of the Samsung Galaxy SIII hitting Canadian carriers on June 20, better sit back – Samsung has pushedthe launch back to June 27th.

That’s only an additional week, but it’s still adisappointment for anyone champing at the bit to get ahold of this new model. When that date rolls around – assuming there are no further delays, of course –you should be able to pick it up at Telus, Bell, Rogers, Wind, and a number ofother carriers across the country.

In other Samsung news, it looks like the Galaxy Note isabout to get updated to Ice Cream Sandwich, if you’re on Telus. According tothe folks over at Softpedia, the eagerly-anticipated update will launch toTelus customers on July 13. But, as that date has already been pushed back morethan once, don’t get too invested in that date. And if you’re on one of theother carriers, stay limber so you can pounce on the update when it arrives.

There’s also renewed hope that the Motorola Droid RAZR willfinally get its Ice Cream Sandwich update in the very near future, thanks to atext message being pushed out by Verizon in the US. The message, which warnsusers that they company’s mobile IM client will not be compatible with theimminent Ice Cream Sandwich, doesn’t actually give a specific launch date…only“soon”.

So for those of you in Canada, it could be coming to a RAZR near you in the next fewweeks, or the next few months. Just touch your toes and give those muscles astretch. As long as you’re flexible, everything will be cool.
