Aliant Regional Communications LP announced today its fibre to the homeservice is now available in some areas on the north side of Fredericton.
Theservice, dubbedFibreOP and originally announced in July, is made availableby aerial cabling to optical network terminals on the exterior ofhouses.
Aliant, which already has fibre to the node serviceavailable to 240,000 customers, has said it eventually plans to haveFibreOP available to 70,000 customers in Fredericton and Saint John.
It wasn’t clear how much a typical customer would actually pay.
Aliantdoes not list full pricing information on its Web site, only statingthe price for the television service is “starting at” $35.95 a month. It wasn’t clear what the price finishes at.
Internet servicewith 20 Mbps download speeds (and 5 Mbps upload speeds) costs “as lowas” $89.95 per month, while service with download speeds of 35 Mbps(and 10 Mbps upload speeds) costs “as low as” 109.95 per month. Itwasn’t clear how much the cost is as high as.
The televisionservice includes the ability to have more than one high definition TVper customer, with a dual-tuner personal video recorder.
