A Scoble scoop: How Digital lost out on MS’s OS

scoble.jpgYou’ve got to hand it to the Scobleizer, who’s posted a video with a former Digital Research exec who gives more backstory on why IBM ended up getting most of Microsoft’s operating system business and, as a result, launching the PC industry as we know it.

“This is still the biggest business story in the tech industry. It is one that business school students will study for a long time,” Scoble writes. “It’s a story of arrogance. Legal misjudgments. Misjudging the players. And an abiding deep friendship that comes through.”

It’s also an interesting followup to Triumph of the Nerds, a PBS show hosted by InfoWorld’s Robert X. Cringely that gave a great documentary treatment to this saga and woud be well worth rebroadcasting.
