is going after Glenayre Electronics Inc. for patent infringement among other no-nos concerning a “Single Mailbox Integration” patent for the popular BlackBerry mobile e-mail device. RIM alleges that Glenayre, which peddles two-way mobile devices, engaged in “deceptive trade practices and unfair competition” regarding “unauthorized and willful use of designations and names confusingly similar to registered trademarks belonging to RIM.” RIM wants financial restitution and urged the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware to instill “preliminary and permanent injunctions” to keep Glenayre from tromping its patents. The Single Mailbox integration technology in question ensures e-mail that arrives at the user’s host computer also arrives on her BlackBerry and that both devices share a single e-mail address.
