What makes Cambridge a ‘smarter city’

The City of Cambridge, Ont. was recently recognized as the first “smarter city” in Canada by IBM Corp. for its new intelligent asset management system. The announcement was made at Cambridge City Hall, where Canada’s Minister of State for Science and Technology Gary Goodyear and Cambridge’s mayor Doug Craig were both on hand with opening remarks.

In the video below, Mike Hausser, director of asset management and support services for Cambridge and the engineer that headed up the project, provides specific examples of how the system works and where it may expand in the future. Chris Mallon, senior brand executive at IBM, also explains why IBM considers Cambridge a “smarter city.”
