Turn your handset into a hotspot

Joikusoft has announced it is releasing a software tool that will let users make Wi-Fi hot spots using their mobile phones.

The software, dubbed Fonspot, will be made available to hot spot company FON during the third quarter of this year.

The vendors claim with Fonspot, users will be able to connect any device, such as a laptop or iPod Touch, to the Internet using their mobile phones as gateways. The Symbian operating system will give them control over who can access their connections, the vendors said.

Fon is comprised of communities around the world, called Foneros, which user routers designed to let people share their Internet access securely. Fon claims it has more than 250,000 hot spots, and more than 900,000 registered members.
