Tim Horton finds vendor for electronic loyalty card

Canada’s favourite doughnut shop has formed a partnership to provide electronic transaction processing for customers that don’t want to fumble for change.

Greenwood Village, Co.-based First Data on Tuesday said it had been contracted by Tim Hortons to manufacture a series of Quickpay Tim Cards that can be used both for in-store purchases and drive-thru at participating locations. First Data will also handle the actual transactions through Datawire, a point-of-sale network it operates.

First Data’s other customers include Dresdner Bank in Germany and National City Bank in the United States.
