Ottawa-based Third Brigade Inc. announced Tuesday its partnership with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council to help evolve the credit card industry payment standards.
As a participating member of PCI, Third Brigade will work with the council to evolve the PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) – providing feedback on the standards and becoming part of a community of more than 400 other organizations. Third Brigade said it’s participating with the council to help companies reduce the overall cost and confusion around adopting the mandatory standards.
Under PCI DSS, all companies that accept credit cards must comply with 12 security rules, which include maintaining a secure network via firewall, encryption of cardholder data and strong access control measures. The standard was developed by major credit card companies such as American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard and Visa, in order to standardize credit card data protection.
