There’s life still left in Cisco’s 6500 line

Now that most customers of Cisco Systems Inc.’s 6500 switches have moved to the E-series chassis, the manufacturer wants to make sure everyone understands the line still has a bright future. Network World U.S.’s Jim Duffy interviewed a Cisco exec at Interop New York who outlined what’s coming. 
 
The Catalyst 6500-E line ranges from the 13-slot 6513 to the three-slot 6503.

“We have a vibrant roadmap for the Cat 6k,” Rob Soderbery, SVP of Cisco’s Enterprise Networking Group, told Network World. “So we’re going to be aggressive about pushing the 6k forward, optimizing around campus aggregation and core.”
 
Always good to know equipment isn’t going to be outdated for quite some time.
