Super Micro unveils server chassis

Super Micro Computers Inc. is shipping nine server chassis designed to accommodate 2.5-inch SAS and STAT hard disk drives.

The San Jose, Calif.-based manufacturer announced the SC113, SC213 and SC216 series, which support 8, 16 and 24 hot-swappable drives respectively, earlier this week.

The SC113-TQ-7000 is a 1 rack-unit what supports eight hot swap SAS/SATA drives and SES-2. The SC113TQ-R650 is similar but has redundant power.

The SC213 and SC216 chassis are 2 rack-units in size and both include single edge-expander versions. The SC216 series also has a model, the SC216E2-R900, which has dual edge expanders for data path failover protection. The SC216-E1-R900 is a single edge expander that can cascade up to 240 physical devices. Another model, the CS213E!-R900 can also cascade up to 240 physical devices.
