Sun acquires Terraspring in infrastructure push

Sun Microsystems Inc. Friday announced that it has acquired network infrastructure software-maker Terraspring Inc. in a move that may add weight to its N1 strategy to ease data centre management.

Sun paid cash for Terraspring’s stock under the agreement, specific financial details of which were not released.

Terraspring, based in Fremont, Calif., develops and sells software used to manage and allocate centralized IT resources such as servers, storage and firewalls.

The only principal executives listed on Terraspring’s Web site Friday morning, Chief Technology Officer Ashar Aziz and Renzo Lazzarato, vice-president of quality and customer satisfaction, were both employees of Sun prior to Terraspring.
