Shoreline to sell Polycom’s IP phones

Shoreline Communications Inc. have turned to Polycom Inc. to offer customers a wider range of phones for their IP telephony environments.

Specifically, Shoreline agreed to resell re-branded Polycom’s SoundPoint IP phones as part of its overall IP Voice Communication family.

Shoreline and Polycom are demonstrating the phone at NetWorld+Interop 2002 Las Vegas this week.

Shoreline is deploying a variety of analog and IP phones throughout the convention center, supporting voice-over-IP (VoIP) traffic in conjunction with Extreme Networks Inc.

Polycom said the announcement was a continuation of its strategy to link up with a number of leading VoIP vendors to offer users a variety of VoIP options, said Michael Sito, vice president of VoIP product marketing at Polycom in Milpitas, Calif.

Polycom recently announced it is teaming with Pingtel to offer VoIP software and hardware aimed at enterprises interested in adopting the Session Initiation Protocol standard for VoIP applications.
