Services firm bundles its support offering

An announcement made last month by NexInnovations Inc. may help companies beat the IT blues, according to one industry observer.

The Toronto-based provider of technology consulting, infrastructure and deployment support says it is now offering pre-bundled IT support services, called ServicePlus, that could help businesses choose programs to fit into their PC, server and networking budgets.

The offering is intended to help outfits manage the lifecycle costs of their PC investments and is offered at platinum, gold or silver levels with per-seat pricing.

Specifically, NexInnovations offers a suite of solutions covering full lifecycles, which range from warranty services with defined resolution and response times for servers, desktops, laptops and laser printers to asset retirement and environmental disposal services.

By packaging these services, the company says it can help save its customers up to 25 per cent, compared to purchasing equivalent services separately, for more predictive budgeting of IT assets.

NexInnovations is a large value added reseller in Canada, that deals in both hardware and software.

Glen Robertson, vice-president of technical services at NexInnovations, said the company’s objective is to build on its current services network across Canada with ServicePlus. He said in a statement that the new package should help deliver resolution flexibility to “help our customers with their support services demands over the IT asset lifecycle.”

“It’s basically providing maintenance services and it’s a hardware support business. Some of its offerings would include things like asset and desktop management that would be bundled together,” said Rob Colraine, director of infrastructure deployment and support services at IDC Canada Ltd. in Toronto.

NexInnovations, formerly part of outsourcing giant EDS, will find its closest competition in the way of GE Capital, he added.

What may help the company is that it has chosen to bundle its offerings together at a discounted price, while its competitors continue to sell these types of services in slices or pieces, Colraine said.
