Scanning tool for SharePoint unveiled

Captaris Inc., which makes the RightFax software tool, has announced four products for Microsoft Corp.’s SharePoint Server 2007 collaboration tool.

The Bellevue, Wash.-based developer says its RightDocs product will let users capture documents from any imaging source and classify the document. Features include distributed batch scanning, capture, document classification, intelligent extraction and a validation client.

RightStar is designed to distribute documents in a SharePoint environment, using metadata and rules based on Windows Workflow Foundation.

Users claim six month wait for SharePoint support

RightFlow, a business process management tool, helps analysts with compliance by creating repeatable processes and prioritizing tasks. It is available as either a stand-alone product or as an add-on to other Captaris products.

The other application is a TIFF iFilter for SharePoint Server 2007 and Search Server 2007, which lets users search for both scanned documents and electronic documents. Based on Captaris’ Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, it extracts the full text from scanned documents and improves image quality.
