RIM CTO to speak with Waterloo teachers

Research in Motion Ltd. CTO David Yach will speak to over 100 Waterloo, Ont. teachers next week in an effort to help them motivate students and increase science and technology enrollment in Canada.

In his presentation, hosted by the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, Yach will share his experience in pursuing a career in technology as well as talk about the launch of the Business & Education Partnership of Waterloo Region (BEP). The organization looks to boost enrollment in the STEM disciplines – which includes the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Damian Pope, senior manager of scientific outreach at the Perimeter will also speak to the teachers, sharing tips on how educators can help foster interest in STEM fields among students.

The Science Superheroes and Perimeter Explorations event takes place on Monday, Feburary 25 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at the Perimeter Institute’s Mike Lazaridis Theatre of Ideas.
