Primus opens data centre in London, Ontario

Alternative telco Primus Telecommunications Canada Inc. has opened an Internet data centre in London, Ontario to support its small and mid-sized corporate customers in southwestern Ontario.

The new 22,000 square foot building, which is unmarked and has one secure entrance, has server hardware and software assets. The first phase of the centre has 3,500 square feet of raised floor space. It also has redundant transmission links, environmental controls, backup systems and a diesel generator.

Primus Canada, a division of McLean, Va.-based Primus Telecommunications Group In., also has Internet data centres in Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto.

In Canada, Primus offers Internet service over DSL, T1, Ethernet, fixed wireless and ISDN lines. Other business services include managed wide-area networks, firewall, virtual private networks and backup.
