Montreal police in new CAD-ventures

The Montreal Police Service has deployed a new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system that enables 4,000 officers to receive emergency information through a secure public wireless connection no matter where they are located.

The CAD system is designed to use the public cellular telephone network to ensure officers do not lose contact with dispatchers should they travel in and out of the primary network’s coverage area. The system supports many types of telecommunication links, including private wireless networks, cellular, Wi-Fi and satellite.
