Microsoft, Seagate cast IT pros in comic strips

Product launches are often accompanied by a story – be it a keynote or press release – but Microsoft Corp. is taking a novel approach to the upcoming release of Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008. It’s telling the heroic stories of the everyday IT professional… through comics.

The company wanted the anticipated launch to be less about plugging products and functionality than about the actual people who use the technology, said Karen Carter, director of marketing with Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp.

“Without the amazing IT professionals, developers, and architects who work with them everyday, the innovation really wouldn’t happen,” said Carter.
