Mercury focuses on IT governance

Mercury Interactive recently took the wraps off an enhanced version of its Mercury Quality Center software quality testing platform, a product geared toward SOA and Web services. Mercury is an IT governance and applications-testing software developer that, in 2005, had annual revenue of US$685 million.

The vendor touts a concept known as Business Technology Optimization (BTO) which revolves around issues such as server uptime, project management and cost issues with respect to IT governance and the overall business impact.

“BTO is based on a simple idea: How do I improve the business outcomes of IT?” said Christopher Lochhead, chief marketing officer at Mercury.

“If you look at what IT executives have historically focused on, it’s been about metrics within IT.”
