McMaster, Mohawk get funding for BTech program

Two Ontario schools received nearly $17 million in financial support from the provincial government on Thursday for a joint program aimed at educating the next generation of IT professionals.

McMaster University and Mohawk College said the money will go towards their Bachelor of Technology, or BTech program. The multidisciplinary BTech offers specializations in automotive and vehicle technology, biotechnology, and process automation technology, but is oriented for those pursuing careers in IT, civil engineering or related fields.

Graduates of the program will receive both a McMaster University degree and a Mohawk College diploma, which may attract more internationally trained professionals, the schools said.
