Logging off the information highway

The active Internet population, defined as those online at least once in a given month, saw an overall loss of 454,129 users in 13 nations between April and May 2003, according to Nielsen//NetRatings Inc.

The United States had the greatest loss of users at 1.2 million, followed by Japan’s overall loss of 570,808 users. Gains in Internet users from several other nations tempered those losses, with Spain (321,497 users added), Germany (238,088) and Brazil (194,769) leading the way.
