As part of one of the recent highlights of the Avaya-Agere partnership, Avaya Inc. recently announced the Avaya Wireless Access Point-3 (AP-3), designed to be ready to deliver the next generation of wireless LANs (5GHz wireless) and all of the mobility and operation of today’s 2.4GHz wireless. The company said the AP-3’s processor and twin 32-bit CardBus slot architecture offers a smooth migration path to next-generation 802.11a wireless networks that operate in the 5Ghz range, while allowing IT managers to protect their existing wireless network infrastructure. Bethedsa, M.D.-based OPNET Technologies Inc. last month announced new server modelling software that allows IT professionals to improve returns on investments in server systems and to optimize end-to-end performance of applications. The Server Models, which allow for modelling of server systems and components, are compatible with OPNET’s IT Guru, SP Guru and Modeller products and benefit from collaboration between OPNET and IBM, the company said. The OPNET Server Models are based on IBM’s SNAP/SHOT technology, and leverage a detailed understanding of CPU, memory, disk I/O, RAID levels and workloads. The OPNET Server Models are available now. In hopes of capturing a larger piece of the Canadian IT pie, Waltham Mass.-based Guardent Inc. last month announced a strategic partnership with Edmonton-based 4RealHelp Inc. to offer its array of information security and privacy services in Western Canada. Under the alliance, 4RealHelp will market Guardent’s integrated consulting and 24×7 managed services along with its business technology services to offer Canadian-based organizations with secure, strategic solutions for their critical information systems. Guardent President and CEO, Maria Cirino said in a statement that the partnership with 4RealHelp lets Guardent tap into the fast-growing market at a lower investment cost and as a result, drive growth and accelerate profitability.
