Lexmark Canada Inc. unveiled several new printers in Toronto on Monday, three of which target the small and medium business (SMB) marketplace in Canada.
Hugh Dyke, director of Lexmark Canada’s Consumer Printer Division said Lexmark designed the three multifunctional printers for the SMB market all under the $400 price point. Dyke added that the all-in-one printers are playing a major role in the SMB arena and noted that the market more than doubled from 2001 to 2002.
The Lexmark X6170 all-in-one professional centre is a flatbed scanner-based, four-in-one inkjet printer. It includes 33.6Kbps colour fax, with one-touch copy capabilities and an automatic document feeder. The printer has a resolution of 4800×1200 dpi and prints up to 19 pages per minute (ppm) and 15ppm in colour for $399.
The X6150 is also a flatbed scanner with 33.6Kbps colour fax. Printing resolution is similar to the X6170, but this model does not include an automatic document feeder. Pricing for the X6150 is approximately $299.
When used in conjunction with the Lexmark N1 Ethernet Adapter of the Lexmark N5 wireless adapter, the company said its X6150 or X6170 can be shared among multiple users via any Ethernet or 802.11b wireless network.
The X1150, priced at $179, targets novice users. The printer integrates a flatbed scanner, PC faxing and one-touch colour copy with PCs, with 4800×1200 dpi.
The Richmond Hill, Ont.-based company also unveiled other printers targeted at the consumer market, but future enterprise offerings were not on the agenda. The new SMB inkjets will begin shipping soon although no date has been set.
