KPMG Deutsche Treuhand-Gesellschaft AG is on track to sell its strategic IT consulting business in the German-speaking region of Europe before the end of June. But the Berlin company remains tight lipped about who the buyer could be.
“When we changed the legal status of the unit from KPMG Consultancy to KPMG Consultancy AG (KCA) in December 2000, we also merged the German, Austrian and Swiss operations into the new company and said we would sell the entire business,” said spokesman Thomas Blees. “Those plans haven’t changed, and we still aim to meet our end-of-June deadline.”
Blees declined to comment on speculation that KPMG could announce a buyer as early as this week.
Unisys Corp., the hardware company based in Blue Bell, Penn., is one of several companies believed to be interested in buying the IT specialist. Frankfurt-based KCA employs around 2,700 consultants in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 2001 the company generated revenue of
