With organizations increasingly worried about the costs of protecting the enterprise from cyber attacks another Canadian company has jumped into the managed security service provider arena.
Iristel Inc., a communications provider which also owns Ice Wireless, said Thursday it is now offering what it calls cybersecurity as a service across the country.
“We want to make sure we’re market leaders, just like we were in the telecom industry,” CEO Samer Bashay said in an interview. “Cybersecurity fits perfectly into our portfolio of products and services.”
Although mainly aimed at small and medium-sized organizations, Bashay said the monthly service can also scale up to handle large firms.
Pricing starts at $99 a month for monitoring one server and two endpoints. Services such as email, firewall and database monitoring can be bought individually or as an entire package. Services include round the clock monitoring, incident response, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and consulting, and advisory.
There’s no shortage of competitors in this space, including eSentire, Herjavec Group, Scalar Decisions (in the process of being bought by CDW Canada) and many more.
Bashay says his service’s differentiator is an artificial intelligence (AI) layer to the monitoring that’s part of Iristel’s security operation centre that includes predictive analytics. The AI layer is part of the network, not an add-on component to existing legacy systems, he said.
