Iran appoints head of distance medicine learning

The deputy director of Iran’s Education and Collegiate Affairs in the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medicine has appointed Dr. Abbas Foroutan as the administrator of the country’s distance medical education network. Foroutan, the head of Accidents Medicine at Shaheed Beheshti School of Medicine, had been nominated for the position by the principal of the Medical Community Constant Education program.

“Hereby, with respect to your educational record and valuable experiences in the planning and management of the Distance Learning Network (DLN), you are designated as the administrator of distance medical education of the country,” Deputy Director Dr. Karimi said in a statement. “Accordingly, the education directorship will prioritize the development and expansion of the network, and declares its preparation and support for this objective,” he said.

The department of Accidents Medicine at Shaheed Beheshti is pioneering the distance-learning field in Iran, having held three training workshops for the Distance Learning Network program.
