IBM and SAP to release first joint software for the Lotus Notes user

IBM Corp. and SAP AG announced Monday their first joint software product.

Codenamed ‘Atlantic’, the combination of IBM Lotus Notes and SAP Business Suite aims to create a novel style of applications that present information in a context familiar to the Lotus Notes desktop user.

IBM Lotus and SAP have thousands of mutual customers who were asking for this type of functionality, the company said.

The first release will include support for SAP workflows, reporting and analytics, and the use of roles from within the Lotus Notes client. As well, tools will also be included to take advantage of other collaborative and offline capabilities available in Lotus Notes and Domino products.

Atlantic is due for release in the fourth quarter of 2008, and will be sold by both companies.
