Get the most from a Wi-Fi only tablet

Canada’s wireless carriers offer cellular versions of the top-selling tablets — and are about to be joined by the BlackBerry PlayBook LTE — but buyers overwhelmingly prefer to buy Wi-Fi models. The main reason is price, even though you sacrifice download speed.

But that doesn’t mean they have to sacrifice functionality. This article outlines 10 tips  for ensuring your tablet purchase goes a long way. One that I’ll try out is using an off-line mapping service.

One thing this piece doesn’t mention is loading your tablet with PDF-based guides. For example, I’ve loaded several free photography guides on my tablet, so I can refer to them for tips when I’m on an assignment, or just to brush up on technique when I have spare time.
