Gateway Solo 3300

Gateway 2000 Inc. is targeting corporate users with the launch of its new 3.65-pounds Solo 3300 notebook. Available now and selling for a base price of US$2199, the ultra-portable unit is less than an inch thick and has a blue metallic magnesium-alloy case. The base configuration includes a 500-MHz Intel Corp. Mobile Pentium III, 64MB of SDRAM, a 6GB hard drive, integrated V.90 modem and 10/100 Ethernet ports, a 12.1-inch active-matrix display, and an external disk drive. Users can jump up from 64MB of SDRAM to 128MB for an extra $100, and you can move from the 6GB hard drive to a 12GB unit for an extra $150. Gateway offers the 3300 with your choice of Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 2000 Professional. The base software bundle includes Internet Explorer, Norton AntiVirus, Intel LANDesk, and Gateway’s GoBack 98. The 3300 Deluxe package is priced at $2328 and includes either Microsoft Office Small Business or Professional edition. The Solo 1100 is an entry-level product selling for about $1199; and the Solo 2150 and 2550 are midrange units starting at about $1599. The Solo 9300 starts at about $2399.
