When it comes back to Toronto next Spring for its 2019 event, Stamford, Ct.-based IT consultancy Gartner Inc. will be putting on its biggest show in Canada yet.
Gartner is upgrading the Toronto CIO and IT Executive Summit event to be a full Gartner Symposium. The event will feature an expanded agenda compared to this year, with a full day of industry-specific programming and some of the hallmarks of a Symposium experience, such as Signature Series sessions (analysts present predictions and trends), Maverick presentations (research meant to provoke “new, unconventional thoughts), and Mastermind interviews (intimate interviews with tech CEOs, which have featured Microsoft’s Satya Nadella and Cisco’s Chuck Robbins).
“Our mission at Gartner is to make every event we produce the single most important annual gathering for the roles we target and the communities we create, in every major geography,” says Cindy Strachan, senior director with Gartner Events and the Toronto Symposium program manager. “Given the strong momentum and growth of the CIO & IT Executive Summit in terms of both audience and exhibitor support, we recognize the opportunity to serve the needs of the Canadian IT market with a larger more comprehensive event.”
Next year’s event will also bring an expanded women in IT program, an extensive CIO experience program, and multiple guest speakers. Already booked is Rick Mercer, the well-known comedian and author.
“Toronto and its surrounding region is a vibrant technology hub, showcasing the provaocative use of technology in both public and private sector,” Strachan says. “We’re particularly excited about our move to the Beanfield Centre for our new home.”
Toronto’s Gartner Symposium will take place June 3-6, 2019.
