Fortinet Inc. of Sunnyvale, Calif. has acquired database security technology from IPLocks.
Fortinet’s newly-acquired products include a vulnerability assessment tool, source code, related physical assets and a license to its database monitoring and auditing tools. The company currently makes firewalls, anti-virus, intrusion prevention systems, virtual private networks, anti-spyware and anti-spam technologies.
Current products include the FortiGate line of appliances, which include Web filtering and traffic shaping features.
IPLocks’ technologies are designed to protect from database attacks, monitor use of databases and send out alerts when there are suspicious or fraudulent activities. Fortinet says the tools would help companies protect internal data and meet the requirements of regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and data privacy laws.
