Former MOSAID CEO takes helm of COM DEV

COM DEV International Inc., a Cambridge, Ont.-based space hardware subsystems manufacturer, has hired George Cwynar as president of its Canadian subsidiary and has appointed Michael Williams as president of its international products division.

Cwynar had been chief executive officer of Mosaid Technologies Inc., an Ottawa-based company that develops semiconductor technologies in memory, wireless and wireline to license to other manufacturers. COM DEV’s Canadian subsidiary is also based in Ottawa.

Williams, a 15-year veteran of COM DEV, has been vice-president of its space electronics division.

COM DEV, which was founded in 1974 and employs more than 800, sells its products (including switches, multiplexers and surface acoustic wave devices) to satellite contractors for use in communications, space science, remote sensing and military satellites. Its technologies include microwave, optical and battery subsystems
