First Canadian in Tech Hall of Fame

Dr. Claudine Simson, vice-president Global Technology Research and Intellectual Property for Nortel Networks, is the first Canadian inductee into the Women in Technology International (WITI) Hall of Fame. One of five new inductees, she was chosen recently for her contributions to the advancement of science and technology.

A strong advocate of women in technology, Dr. Simson helped establish the Canadian Chair in Women in Science and Engineering. Founded in 1989, WITI is a worldwide association of professionals working in all technology sectors which encourages women to choose careers in science and technology, and seeks to teach women about technology. The annual Hall of Fame program recognizes, honours, and promotes the contribution that women make to technology.
