Extreme CCTV gets takeover offer

A German equipment manufacturer is offering to buy Extreme CCTV Inc. of Burnaby, B.C. which employs about 130 and makes video surveillance cameras, illuminators and accessories.

Extreme CCTV, which owns European distributor Derwent, makes active infrared illuminators (designed to provide surveillance at night) and various types of cameras.

Robert Bosch Gmbh of Stuttgart, Germany has offered Extreme CCTV’s shareholders $5 per share in cash.

Extreme CCTV’s products include the Blue Diamond night vision infrared illuminator, the Moondance Ruggedized Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera, the REG Licence Plate Capture camera and explosion-protected cameras, designed for environments such as chemical plants. The manufacturer says its customers include Corrections Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Department of National Defence, the U.S. Army and the British Ministry of Defence.
