Exinda Networks has unveiled a new WAN optimization appliance aimed at boosting application performance for small branch offices by giving remote employees easier access to data centre applications.
The Andover, Mass.-based company said the Exinda 1710 appliance can classify and prioritize important business applications, while also managing recreational Internet usage such as Limewire or BitTorrent programs. “Most small branch office employees are connected to data center applications via low bandwidth or lower quality links,” Con Nikolouzakis, CEO at Exinda, said in a release.
“As a result, users suffer the worst delays of time waiting at screen. The Exinda 1710 provides an affordable, easy way around this problem. It’s a simple solution that has a positive and instant impact with improved application performance and network traffic control.”
The company said the appliance can accommodate up to 30 end users and has the ability to monitor up to 8,000 concurrent network traffic flows at either two or 10 Mbps. The Exinda 1710 is geared primarily toward small and home office environments and will be available in mid-June.
